9 Scanpan Cookware Reviews For The Money In 2023

Best Scanpan Cookware

The right cookware will guarantee that you will have an easier time preparing tasty meals for your loved ones when you have it in your kitchen. Nonstick cookware is not always easy to find that delivers excellent performance.

In our reviews of the scanpan cookware, we look for pots and pans that perform well without breaking the bank. However, things will be a bit different in this case. It’s no secret that the best scanpan cookware is not a budget brand, so you will have to take its quality and price into consideration.

Scanpan is undoubtedly one of the most notable brands of cookware available. Not only do their products have ingenious nonstick coatings, but they are also of high-quality and durable. See this Scanpan review for some recommendations for the best products from the company.

1. ScanPan Black Cookware Set

ScanPan Black Cookware Set

Features

  • Brand: Scanpan
  • Model: 62932
  • Color: Black
  • Material: Aluminum
  • Weight: 24.2 pounds
  • Dimensions: 25 x 14 x 13 inches

As you can tell from the set title, this is essentially the same line that we just saw, except there is one main difference. All of these pots and pans can be used on a wide variety of stovetops, including ceramic, glass, electric, gas, and induction.

It is also worth noting that this set is smaller. As a matter of fact, all the other sets we’ll discuss here have ten pieces, and only the Classic set has fourteen pieces. Here we don’t include the grill pan, the large frying pan, and the small 1-quart saucepan with a lid.

A grill pan and a large frying pan, which would be used frequently in most kitchens, are very much missed. Having a small saucepan is not that big a deal. You can make pretty much anything in a 2-quart pot that you can make in a 1-quart pot. As far as the nonstick coating and durability of the pots and pans go, we have already mentioned them. We are using the same coating used on the Classic set.

It did seem as if the performance of this cookware had changed a bit. Due to the thicker, heavier bottoms of these pots and pans, we found that they tended to burn a little faster on a gas range. Induction, however, these are superfast. Additionally, they seem to distribute heat better, resulting in even heating all over.

2. Classic Brights Cookware Set

Classic Brights Cookware Set

Features

  • Brand: Rachael Ray
  • Model: 19002
  • Color: Sea Salt Gray
  • Material: Aluminum
  • Weight: 18.01 pounds
  • Dimensions: 23 x 11 x 13.5 inches

To make things simple, we’ll compare the cookware sets from the cheapest to the most expensive. To begin, we’ll look at Classic Cookware. It’s not the cheapest set overall, but when you factor in the number of pieces it includes, it’s quite affordable.

This classic set really covers all the bases, having a wide range of pots and pans to accommodate all your cooking needs. This set is made from 100% recycled aluminum, which the company claims is 100% recyclable. While the outside of the grill is coated in durable black paint, the inside surface is what matters most. All of these pans are coated with Scanpan’s nonstick titanium coating.

Scanpan developed Stratanium, a coating resembling Teflon made from five layers of industrial coatings. They claim it is harder than steel as a result. It means, in theory, that steel utensils shouldn’t damage the surface, although in practice banging or clanging can cause scratches or dents.

Moreover, the surface can withstand temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit and is dishwasher-safe. Pots and pans like these release food very well, and the cleaning comes easily. You simply wipe them clean after you use them.

3. Scanpan CTX Cookware Set

Scanpan CTX Cookware Set

Features

  • Brand: Scanpan
  • Model: 65100000
  • Color: Silver
  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • Weight: 27.3 pounds
  • Dimensions: 25 x 12 x 11 inches

Compared to the Classic set, the CTX series costs several hundred dollars more. As compared to the Classic induction cookware, the stockpot or Dutch oven is slightly larger, while the medium saucepan is slightly smaller. But these differences are not significant. With this set of pots and pans, you can cook on any stovetop type, including induction.

We notice a distinct difference between these sets and earlier ones in the look. For the Classic collection, the paint finish is basic black, while for the CTX collection, the finish is brushed stainless steel. As well as being more durable and easier to clean, it will look more beautiful in the long run.

Stratanium is a PFOA- and PFOS-free coating that’s allegedly resistant to metal tools as well as dishwasher-safe. In fact, the surface performs exactly the same. It distributes heat more efficiently than the regular Classic series, just like Classic Induction cookware.

Another difference between the pots is the tempered glass lids that come with them. Although they can take a beating longer than the Classic lids, they do make it difficult to see everything inside.

Stainless steel handles also feature stay-cool coatings. Classic cookware handles made of these materials will resist heat more effectively, and will last longer than handles made of Bakelite. Here, you’re faced with a choice between extra longevity and extra cost.

4. Scanpan HaptIQ Fry Pan Set

Scanpan HaptIQ Fry Pan Set

Features

  • Brand: Scanpan
  • Model: SC10126
  • Color: Aluminum
  • Material: Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Metal
  • Weight: 5.79 pounds
  • Dimensions: 4.5 x 11 x 19.5 inches

The set includes eight and ten and a quarter inch skillets. Searing and deglazing meat on other nonstick surfaces isn’t advised. Regular Teflon is not able to withstand high temperatures, and deglazing involves scraping the surface, which is abrasive. The ceramic titanium surface of Scanpan is protected by PTFE, so heat and scraping won’t damage the surface. Use Scanpan to deglaze sauces and capture flavors. This surface can be used with metal utensils too.

With these skillets, you can griddle pancakes, cook steaks, deglaze pots, or fry an egg. They feature an ergonomic design that makes them easy to handle. You will not be exposed to PFOAs in your food due to the toxic-free surface.

With an aluminum body, the heat is uniformly distributed throughout the pan for even cooking. In comparison to other skillets, these are made to last. Cookware comes with a lifetime warranty to prevent you from having to replace it. You can also wash these fry pans in the dishwasher.

5. Scanpan Professional Cookware Set

Scanpan Professional Cookware Set

Features

  • Brand: Scanpan
  • Model: 60801000
  • Color: Silver
  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • Weight: 20 pounds
  • Dimensions: 27 x 13 x 11 inches

The cost of the professional line from Scanpan is comparable to the CTX set. This set comes with a smaller stockpot than the CTX set, and the three saucepan sizes approximate the size of the two CTX pots. Other than this, the sizes are quite similar. However, we will be missing the large 12-inch frying pan that was included with the Classic set.

In place of stainless steel, we have a black matte enamel paint finish that is very attractive. When set against the lids, which are made entirely of stainless steel instead of glass, it stands out especially well. The one benefit of steel lids is that they are more durable and will never break if dropped.

There is just the unfortunate fact that you cannot see your food through them when you are cooking. In this chapter, we’ll discuss the Stratanium-coated pots and pans that are scratch-resistant and dishwasher safe. All three sets had the same nonstick performance, which should be no surprise since they all use the same coating.

But there are some downsides as well. A heavy, thick bottom makes these pots great for even heat distribution. However, since they can’t be used on induction stovetops, they’re not metal.

Even though the pots and pans can all be used in an oven up to 500 degrees F, you want to be careful that the handles do not become too hot. Despite their small size on the inside, the handles on these pot lids can get hot and can be difficult to grasp on the stove.

6. Scanpan HaptIQ Cookware Set

Scanpan HaptIQ Cookware Set

Features

  • Brand: Scanpan
  • Model: SC10127
  • Color: Stainless
  • Material: 18/8 Stainless Steel
  • Weight: 27.3 pounds
  • Dimensions: 24 x 12 x 12 inches

Our last cookware set in our review of Scanpan cookware will focus on the most expensive model. Isn’t it interesting that these pieces have the same sizes and shapes as those in the CTX set? This is why we are comparing these two cookware sets.

HAPTIQ offers a sleek stainless steel exterior and a mirror-polished finish for a modest extra cost. This sleek look will certainly complement any kitchen. It is far from being the only element to consider. Unlike our previous cookware sets, the Stratanium+ coating on this set was designed by Scanpan.

Although this coating is designed for dishwashers, it is also safe to use with metal utensils. Stratanium with a slight texture feels smoother than regular Stratanium, but it’s exactly this texture that the manufacturer claims helps it maintain its nonstick properties. Our experience supports this claim. The pots and pans did not stick, at least not with anything that couldn’t be removed easily with a spatula.

We also like that with HAPTIQ, Scanpan is returning to glass and steel lids mixed together. The materials are durable enough, and we feel that they will last for years to come. We also like to watch and monitor while we’re cooking. I would strongly recommend this set over the other CTX and Professional sets since it is a bit more expensive.

7. Scanpan Pro IQ Cookware Set

Scanpan Pro IQ Cookware Set

Features

  • Brand: Scanpan
  • Model: 68009000
  • Color: Black
  • Material: Plastic
  • Weight: 3.3 pounds
  • Dimensions: 24 x 13.5 x 11.6 inches

In their mid-range line, the Scanpan Pro IQ cookware set is the best. There is still Stratanium used, not Stratanium plus, but none of the other parts are inferior in quality.

This cookware set is similar to the CTX set from Scanpan, but instead of multi-ply stainless steel, it features a recycled aluminum body. There is an interesting fact about this product description, which is that it describes Stratanium in the form of a “ceramic-titanium” compound.

Scanning pans are more expensive because they offer quality cookware. As compared with the market, this set is clearly above average in terms of quality, but I’m not sure the price is completely justified. You might want to consider this set for someone who wants a quality nonstick set and prefers aluminum to stainless steel multi-ply.

8. SCANPAN CTP Cookware Set

Scanpan CTP Cookware Set

Features

  • Brand: Scanpan
  • Model: 56070000
  • Color: Silver
  • Material: Aluminum
  • Weight: 5.7 pounds
  • Dimensions: 15 x 9.75 x 4.5 inches

We are pleased to announce the addition of our most premium product to the Scanpan family. Ceramic is used in this pan, and it is protected by a titanium layer (Stratanium), which provides extra durability. Moreover, the surface of the grill makes it easier to sear and brown large pieces of food.

With five plys of stainless steel, this cookware set will last for over 15 years of heavy usage. You will also be pleased to know that this set is made from 100% recycled aluminum if you want eco-friendly cookware.  Each handle is ergonomically designed for comfort.

It is dishwasher and oven safe up to 500 degrees, and can be used over any type of cooktop (including induction). Considering this set is quite pricey, it may be beyond the reach of a rookie cook or one who simply wants a simple set. Because I am a full-time food blogger, I’m the perfect candidate for this set! Surely you can’t get any better than this.

9. Scanpan Saute Pan

Scanpan Saute Pan

Features

  • Brand: Scanpan
  • Model: SP26101204
  • Color: Black
  • Material: Aluminum
  • Weight: 3 pounds
  • Dimensions: 18 x 10 x 2 inches

It is indispensable to invest in a good quality saute pan when purchasing a cookware set. Consider adding a Scanpan pan to your cookware collection, which is ideal for sautéing greens or braising chicken. Stratanium nonstick technology makes this saute pan one of the brand’s newest products. The resulting saute pan has far greater performance and durability now.

Furthermore, this classic frying pan not only has a Stratanium coating that makes it 50% more durable than its previous models, but has a five-layer system that makes it rust-resistant and less prone to corrosion.

This classic saute pan has an excellent nonstick surface that helps it use less oil. In addition to this, saute pans have the properties that help you cook healthier meals. That’s great news for all the healthy chefs out there, isn’t it?

A great feature of this pan is that its ergonomic handle will remain cool even after direct heat is applied. In addition, the handle will give you maximum comfort so that you can move the pan with ease, and serve heavy food with ease.

Buying Guide: Scanpan Cookware Reviews

You can ensure that you will get the best cookware from Scanpan by following this guide.

Weight

As one of the most frequently ignored features of a product, the weight of your cookware will determine whether or not you are able to move it easily. You will especially appreciate cookware with a reasonable weight if you have wrist or mobility problems.

Size

When buying cookware, you should always check the size to make sure that it is large enough for your needs. Please do not rely solely on the product photo, since a simple photo will not accurately represent the size of the product.

Lid

Even if you close the lid, you can monitor what’s happening while it cooks when you use a product with a clear lid. Although glass lids can be durable, you need to keep in mind that they might not be the best option. You are more likely to break or explode a plastic container lid than a stainless steel or aluminum one.

Good ventilation is another feature you should look for in a lid. By using a pot or pan with a well-ventilated bottom, you will ensure maximum cooking efficiency. In contrast, there are some lids that have too many vents, leading to a loss of heat when cooking.

Therefore you will need to spend more time and fuel cooking than you normally would. Poorly vented lids generally cause the broth to leak from the pot. It is possible that a poorly vented pan can fall apart due to the pressure built within it.

Stovetop Range

There are many Scanpan cookware pieces that are compatible with all stovetops, including induction. Induction ranges are not suitable for all products from Scanpan. To ensure that your cookware is compatible with induction stovetops, check the product’s specifications before buying it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are the founders of Scanpan?

The company was founded in 1956 and is based in Denmark. We’ve been committed to cutting waste and protecting the environment since the beginning. In addition to being the first non-stick brand with PFOA-free cookware, scanpan uses a lot of recyclable aluminum in its cookware.

Scanpan cookware is made of what?

Cast aluminum pressure cookware and stainless 5-ply cookware are both produced by Scanpan. Inside the pots is stainless steel or non-stick. A process that involves melting, molding, and curing reinforces aluminum to make it castable.
In comparison to most nonstick cookware made of spun or stamped aluminum, this is much more durable. Heat-resistant Bakelite handles or stainless steel handles are available. Stainless steel, toughened glass, or a glass/stainless mix are available for lids.

Scanpan can be used with olive oil?

Yes, and I would recommend making your scanpan with extra virgin olive oil(EVOO). With the pans from Scanpan, there is no need for any oil. To add a little flavor to any frying pan, I recommend EVOO. The oil makes cooking sticky food such as eggs easier.
If you would like to avoid fats and oils, you should use an air fryer. Mediterranean diets, generally considered as healthy, contain a large amount of extra virgin olive oil. You should consider that providing you don’t smoke your oil, it will remain healthy.

How do I clean Scanpan cookware?

Scanpan can be washed in the dishwasher. However, I recommend hand washing high-quality cookware to prolong its life. You can usually remove most stubborn stains with warm water, mild detergent, and a sponge, but if they persist, rub a paste of water and Bar Keepers Friend or baking soda on the pan. Rinse with water after letting it sit for thirty minutes and scrubbing with a sponge.
