On the outside, the pancake is golden brown, but inside it is soft. With a little glutinous best rice flour, you get a lot of chew. These cookies are naturally dairy-free and gluten-free, so they are easy to make. Using fresh fruit, maple syrup, and whipped cream for breakfast is an easy and delicious breakfast option!

There are a lot of delicious mochi pancakes out there, and you can make them at home in no time. The pancakes are made with Japanese sweet rice flour, which provides a chewy texture. When I make the rest of these pancakes on the weekend, I can freeze them for busy mornings. You don’t need to buy pancake mixes when you can make your own mochi pancakes!

Mochi Pancakes Component

A mochi pancake is made with mochi flour, which is similar to glutinous rice flour. When cooked, it turns sticky. This flour makes this pancake chewy, making it so good. In fact, if only glutinous rice flour was used, the pancakes would become too dense and chewy, which isn’t what makes a good pancake. Using this flour in combination with regular rice flour creates the perfect texture balance in the pancakes.

The idea of making them gluten-free by using rice flour rather than wheat flour intrigues me. I have seen versions of this recipe that also use glutinous rice flour.

FAQs

Should I grease the pan before cooking my pancakes?

Using a good nonstick pan might allow you to make pancakes without sticking them. Your pancakes will be uniform in color and have a smooth top. In addition, you can use non-stick cooking spray, resulting in a top like the one on the right, or butter.

Can Mochi Pancakes be made gluten-free?

This gluten-free flour is commonly referred to as glutinous rice flour, but it is gluten-free due to its chewy texture. If you want to make the pancakes gluten-free, use non-allergenic mochiko flour instead of all-purpose flour.

Is it okay to use regular rice flour?

You need glutinous rice flour or sweet rice flour to make mochi pancakes. This is because normal rice flour isn’t as starchy as glutinous rice flour.

Is it possible to prepare the batter ahead of time?

Preparing and serving this dish on the first day of the week is a great idea. The batter can be stored in an airtight container in the cheap refrigerator for 2-3 days. A few hours before cooking, get the batter out of the fridge.

Are mochi pancakes freezer-friendly?

The best results will be achieved within 3 months! They can be heated in increments of 20 seconds in the best microwave. Make sure the pancakes are cool before placing them in a freezer zip-top bag.
