Blue Diamond Cookware Review

Share on:

Diamonds are considered a girl’s best friend by Marilyn Monroe. In addition to diamonds, Blue Diamond cookware wants to let you know that cooking is also a bit like playing with diamonds. A Blue Diamond cookware review would help us determine whether that claim holds water.

Can diamonds be used in cooking? That doesn’t seem like the easiest combination to make, does it? I’d think the Blue Diamond cookware would say otherwise. As a matter of fact, the manufacturer points out that the diamonds in Blue Diamond cookware set it apart from other nonstick brands.

Company and Product

How do I find out who Blue Diamond is? Let’s begin with that question. A product line from the Cookware Company called Blue Diamond was launched in 2016. The product line itself is designed for high quality at a reasonable price. It was founded in 2005 and concentrates on cookware, as you can guess from the name.

Beware of products from The Cookware Company, which are designed and engineered abroad. Korean, Chinese, and German production facilities are used. Does Blue Diamond originate from China?  Likely.

Millions of Diamonds?

“The strongest-looking, longest-lasting nonstick pan on the market” and it is infused with “millions of diamonds.” When you ask, “Diamonds?” it sounds a little puny. What are millions of them? Could that possibly be true?

It’s actually true about the million diamonds. Their manufacturing process includes a layer of diamond dust that’s non-stick. In this process, diamonds are transformed into a scratch-resistant material since they are the hardest substance known to man.

But does it really Hold Up?

It is frustrating when what is stated by a manufacturer doesn’t match what we test. But this one sort of does. The only way to make sure that your pans live up to Blue Diamond’s claims is to follow their instructions. The recommendations contradict Blue Diamond’s claims.

Blue Diamond is quoted as saying “metal utensils have found their match,” but nylon and wooden utensils are also recommended. The only way to make your cookware last ten times longer than they say is to use nylon and wooden utensils.

Another Example?

Apparently, Blue Diamond’s products can be washed in a dishwasher. It sounds like an ideal solution to those looking for simple clean-up! However, Blue Diamond recommends hand washing in hot soapy water with a soft sponge “to keep the non-stick in good shape.” Yes, technically, it can be washed in the dishwasher. Should you wash it in the dishwasher? Absolutely not.

And a Guarantee?

It comes with a 90-day money-back guarantee, which is an important aspect of this cookware. You are permitted to return Blue Diamond cookware within three months of your purchase date for a refund if you’re not satisfied with it for any reason. Neither shipping and handling nor replacement products will be covered by them.

The warranty is limited to one lifetime, and misuse or abuse of the product does not cover any damage. Moreover, it is not inclusive of normal wear and tear, which in this case includes scratches on a scratch-resistant product. This means only defects in materials and workmanship are covered.

One more thing…

Moving on to the next person if you have an induction stove. With Blue Diamond, induction stovetops are not compatible with the pans.

We have now discussed a bit about the Blue Diamond brand and company, so let’s dig into our in-depth review of Blue Diamond cookware.

1. Blue Diamond CC 001951-001 Cookware-Set, 14 Piece Set

Best Large Blue Diamond Cookware Set

Blue Diamond CC Cookware-Set

This first review will focus on the largest set available from Blue Diamond cookware. If you are seeking a complete cookware set, you will appreciate the functionality of the pots and pans offered here. That is certainly what we found.

One of the pieces in the set is a 5-quart covered stockpot, a perfect size for soups and chili. Other pans include a two-quart and a three-quart covered pot, a 2.5-quart covered skillet, as well as a nine-inch and a seven-inch open pan. The set includes a stainless steel steamer as well as three black nylon cooking implements. Everything you need is included no matter the type of cooking you do.

Almost all stovetops are compatible with these pans and pots except induction, so if you are using gas, electric, ceramic, or halogen, they will work just fine. The fact that this can be used in the oven and broiler up to 850 degrees, more than twice as high as other non-stick cookware, is even more impressive.

Because the cookware is suitable for both oven and broiler use at such high temperatures, rubber, plastic, and other cool-touch handles cannot be used. The steel used in the Blue Diamond handles is the very same steel that was used to forge the pots, and it gets very, very hot. When you purchase these pots and pans, make sure you also keep an oven mitt or potholder on hand.

This set includes four tight-fitting glass lids for protecting food from moisture and contaminants. The handles of the lids also get hot from the stove, so pot holders or oven gloves are a must with this cookware.

Pros
  • Oven safe up to 850 degrees.
  • Toxin-free.
  • Dishwasher safe.
Cons
  • Highest of the options reviewed.

2. Blue Diamond CC001602-001 Cookware Set, 10 Piece Set

Best Small Blue Diamond Cookware Set

Blue Diamond Cookware Set

Pots and pans from Blue Diamond Cookware are available in another set. Additionally, the ten-piece set comes with a 5-quart covered stockpot, a 2-quart covered saucepan, and a 5-quart covered skillet. You will also receive two 7-inch and one 9-inch frying pan. Two black nylon kitchen utensils are also included.

The manufacturer recommends utensils made of nylon or wood in order to extend the life of the non-stick surface. But is that necessary? The diamond-filled surface coating provides ten times more hardness than any other non-stick surface coating, according to the manufacturer.

Realistically, metal utensils will scratch surfaces. How can we tell? On the products we tested, metal spoons and spatulas were used. But what happened when we did? The pans were scratched as a result of being used with metal utensils just as other non-stick pans do. In fact, one of our test subjects developed a bit of flaking after a couple of weeks of using metal utensils.

To make sure that your non-stick surface lasts, follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. You should use more than a nylon or wooden tool when doing this. The authors also recommend cooking on low to medium stovetop settings and utilizing butter or oil with a high smoke point.

The pots and pans in the set feature non-stick ceramic coatings that are safe for cooking and are free of toxins. The pots and pans can also be used in the oven and on the broiler. They’re all dishwasher-safe, too. They’ll be easy to clean!

It was a pleasure to test the product since it had a very lightweight feel, which was especially nice when using the five-quart containers. Simply storing food in a five-quart container makes it heavy, so cookware that is already heavy when empty just adds to the strain on the muscles while cooking!

Pros
  • Oven safe up to 850 degrees.
  • Toxin-free.
  • Lightweight.
Cons
  • Not good for induction stoves.

3. Blue Diamond CC001647-001 Round Grill Pan, 11”

Best Blue Diamond Round Grill Pan

Blue Diamond Round Grill Pan

Let’s take a closer look at each of these pots and pans, one by one. Here is an 11-inch round grill pan on its own, no lid included. You can grill veggies, fish, and other meats on this pan. Using the pan, you can get those grill lines on your salmon even if you are not cooking it outdoors on a barbecue.

Although this pan can be used on the stove only and not in the oven or broiler, its handle remains too hot for long periods of time. You must use a hand protector to avoid burns. Don’t forget the oven mitts with this cookware.

Ceramic non-stick coating makes cleaning between raised areas on the grill bed a simple task. Fortunately, this only holds true if you are diligent about following the manufacturer’s instructions about using oil and cooking on low to medium heat.

When cooking on too high a heat, for instance, to sear over those grill lines, we observed that the coating did indeed quickly deteriorate. There was a spot on one of our test pans where all food stuck regardless of how much oil or butter was used.

Listen up, folks. What you pay for is what you get. The price of this frying pan is very low in comparison to other nonstick frying pans of the same size on the market today. It will probably last you two years if you follow the manufacturer’s instructions after purchasing this.

However, if it is mistreated by cooking at too high a temperature, it will become damaged. Plus, metal utensils will damage the pan if you use them instead of nylon and wooden ones. This way, the pan will no longer act as a non-stick surface. If you scratch it, it may flake or warp.

Pros
  • Toxin free.
  • Dishwasher safe.
  • Low end of the price range.
Cons
  • Not good for induction stoves.

4. Blue Diamond CC01811-001 Sautepan, 5 Quart

Best Blue Diamond Saute Pan

Blue Diamond Sautepan

Our Blue Diamond Cookware review continues with another item that should be in every kitchen. Its five-quart capacity and lidless design make it the perfect size for many daily cooking tasks. Cooking in this large pan is easy, as you can fry, saute, stir fry, and even bake. Yup, you heard it right.

Stews, for example, require the meat to be browned before baking slowly in the oven. The Blue Diamond Saute pans do both tasks so you will spend less time removing the drippings after you cook! Blue Diamond pans have an oven-safe temperature range of 850 degrees Fahrenheit. Just keep a careful eye on the handles since they will get hot fairly quickly.

Its forged base allows for even heat distribution, as well as its diamond-infused coating, which is said to be excellent for heat conduction. We thought this large flat bottomed pan would be ideal for testing those qualities. This large pan could not hold the batter our testers made because they made a pancake that filled it to the bottom. Our test found that the pancake cooked as even as promised.

There’s a lot of bottom space with its straight sides, making this an ideal frying pan. This pan’s interior circumference is about 12 inches, making it an ideal size for making grilled cheese or frying hamburger patties. It is also a good size for soups and chili.

Its large size does not result in this pan being too heavy. It can be handled even when filled with whatever you’re cooking, which is quite convenient.

Pros
  • Oven safe to 850 degrees.
  • Middle of the price range.
  • Light in weight.
Cons
  • Not good for induction stoves.

5. Blue Diamond CC001597-001 Open Frypan, 10’

Best Blue Diamond Frying Pan

Blue Diamond Open Frypan

As we cook more and more, we have realized that you really cannot have too many frying pans! This Blue Diamond pan measures 10 inches in diameter. With the sloped sides, this pan offers maximum surface area while keeping the sloped edges low. You can cook eggs in it or make hamburger patties with it. This size frying pan is a necessity for any kitchen.

What makes this non-stick frying pan different from others might be of interest to you. Manufacturers of this ceramic non-stick coating state that it is made without toxins like PFA, PFOA, and lead. Consequently, if you accidentally overheat it when cooking, you won’t get toxic fumes.

Further, a special diamond-infused coating offered by Blue Diamond can last for quite some time so long as you follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. Cook on low temperatures and hand wash rather than using the dishwasher, and you should be able to get quite a bit of use out of this inexpensive pan.

The price for this particular pot is the lowest overall of all the Blue Diamond pots and pans we’ve tested. It also has the smallest diameter, so we understand. All the pieces of cookware reviewed are great values, provided you don’t expect them to last as long as your mother’s stainless steel dishes.

As simple as it sounds, non-stick is just a coating. If a window coating or a pan non-stick coating are not applied properly, eventually they will separate from the surface. There are some specific recommendations Blue Diamond offers that will ensure the skillet lasts as long as should be expected for the price.

Pros
  • Toxin-free.
  • Lowest of the items reviewed.
Cons
  • Handle can get hot.

No matter what you choose, don’t expect it to last forever, but it should last as long as you can expect for the cost.
