I don’t mean to discount the blade in any way. This style of knife benefits from FC61’s great balance between toughness and hardness. In addition, it remains sharp easily, even if you aren’t the best at maintaining knives. Gytutos with western-leaning curvatures are not my thing due to the extreme curvature of the edge.

As far as I’m concerned, I think that this is the knife you need to get your parents. With a little flash and a lot of toughness, it’s an incredibly friendly device for beginners. However, I’d be cautious about buying this as a gift for any professional cook since it is so different from other chef knives sold today. It’s just cool to have this knife at the end of the day.
